IF Global FC has started to gain steam, wait ‘til you see when it reaches full stride.
The perennial United Football League contender seeks to sustain its blazing run as it takes on Pachanga-PLDT Home Fibr on Thursday night at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. with second-running Global gunning for a fourth straight victory that will keep it in step with early leader Loyola Meralco.
The Azkals-loaded Global showed its fiery form on Saturday when it recorded the most goals and biggest winning margin so far in the current season in its 9-1 dismantling of Philippine Army in a game that saw Jeffrey Christiaens score a hat-trick.
What’s scarier is that Global coach Leigh Manson feels his powerhouse side has yet to display its full potential.
“We’re still not quite firing on all cylinders,” the Scottish coach said. “As a coach, my job is to see the little areas where we lost our concentration. We have to concentrate for the ninety minutes and that’s when, I think, other teams will find that this is the level we’re at.”
One instance Manson could be referring to was when Polish skipper Ben Starosta missed a makeable second-half penalty strike that allowed the Troopers to make a quick counterattack.
And Global has to keep its focus all-game long against a dangerous Pachanga side that emerged the runner-up in the last Cup competition.
Coming off a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Army last Thursday, Pachanga, running sixth with six points, has yet to show the form that gave Loyola a scare in the Cup.
Third-running Kaya FC, fresh from a scoreless draw against Green Archers United, seeks to improve its finishing when it faces cellar-dwelling Pasargad earlier at 5:15 p.m.
