GLOBAL FC salvaged a 2-2 draw against Ceres-La Salle on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to deny the United Football League pacesetter from pulling away further from the rest of the field.
The defending league champions erased an early two-goal deficit as Misagh Bahadoran and OJ Clariño were on target in the second half to force the stalemate in a marquee matchup that lived up to its billing.
That kept Ceres from getting maximum points, although the former Division 2 titlists remained six points clear of second-running Kaya FC with 34 points after 13 outings.
Global, on the other hand, revived its own title bid by improving to 27 points after 13 matches to move up to fourth spot, ahead of Stallion FC on goal difference.
Ceres went up by two goals after Bienvenido Marañon opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Manny Ott doubled the lead seven minutes later.
But Global came back after intermission as Clariño pulled a goal back in the 60th, before Bahadoran struck the equalizing goal in the 76th.
Earlier, Green Archers United rolled past Socceroo, 4-0, to maintain its place at sixth with 26 points, while keeping its victim in ninth spot with just seven markers.
