Global FC blanks Kaya FC to remain unbeaten, tighten grip on UFL top spot

GLOBAL FC turned an expected Independence Day marquee matchup into a blowout as it blanked Kaya FC, 3-0, to stretch its unbeaten start in the United Football League on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Ivorian midfielder Serge Kaole and Japanese winger Hikaru Minegishi struck for Global, which also benefited from an own goal from Kaya defender Masa Omura, to win its fifth straight match and strengthen its hold of the top spot.

Kaya dropped to fourth spot as it was stuck with nine points, behind Ceres-La Salle on goal difference.

JP Voltes kept in step with Global as it held Stallion FC to a scoreless draw in the first match of the double-header.

The Japanese-loaded side claimed a point to remain in second spot, five points behind the pacesetters, while the Stallions climbed to sixth spot with seven points.
