KAYA FC tries to keep its flickering title hopes alive as it tangles with Green Archers United on Tuesday when Division 1 action of the United Football League finally resumes after a month-long international break at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
Boosted by the return of Azkals Chris Greatwich, OJ Porteria, Anton del Rosario, and Kenshiro Daniels, the second-running side hopes to inch closer to league-leading Global FC, which is on the cusp of claiming a second title in three years.
However, Kaya can’t afford to lose anymore, starting in its 8 p.m. affair with the Archers who are bannered by their own national team standout in goalkeeper Patrick Deyto.
With 40 points in 19 matches, Kaya has to win most, if not all, of its last five games, and hope Global (47 points in 19 games) loses theirs to stay alive.
The Archers, with 27 points, are just trying to solidify their hold of fifth spot and seal their spot in the season-ending UFL Super Cup where the top six teams in the league will see action.
Deposed champion Stallion FC, behind Azkals Simone Rota and Balot Doctora, faces Socceroo in the curtain-raiser at 5:15 p.m.
