CERES-LA Salle and Loyola Meralco scored dominant shutout victories to lurk behind pacesetting Global FC in the United Football League on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The defending champion Busmen blanked 10-man Forza, 10-0, before the Sparks zapped Agila, 11-0, as the winners hiked their tally to 12 points apiece to move just three behind Global FC.
After impressively scoring half of their output in a 16-0 rout of Pasargad last week, Spanish striker Adrian Gallardo sustained his sizzling form with a hat-trick for the Busmen, who notch a fourth win in five matches, the same as the Sparks.
Phil Younghusband also registered a hat-trick as the Azkals strike star finally found the mark for the Sparks for the first time since returning from a knee injury.
Akira Miyayama also struck thrice for the Sparks, while James Younghusband and Jinggoy Valmayor chipped in a brace each, and one from Daniel Gadia.
Stephan Schrock, Carlie de Murga, Jeffrey Christiaens, Nate Burkey, Patrick Reichelt, and Bien Maranon also found the back of the net for Ceres, which pouned on a Forza side that had only 10 players suiting up.
