CERES-LA Salle and Global FC rekindle their rivalry as the United Football League heavyweights square off on Thursday night in the UFL Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Ceres seeks a four-match sweep of Group B as the league titile holders takes on the 2014 champions in the marquee matchup at 6:15 p.m.

Global won its first three matches but one was overturned after violating the foreigner player limit in the showdown with Green Archers United.

Ceres, which held off the Archers, 3-2, on Saturday, is the top seed for the knockout stage regardless of the match result, owing to superior goal difference.

“When we play each other, the teams will lift themselves just because there are a lot of Azkals players who know each other very well,” said Global coach Leigh Manson, whose team is coming off a 2-0 win over Loyola Meralco.

“Nobody wants to lose this game,” the Scottish mentor added. “It’s a battle between the last two champions and you don’t need a lot of motivation to give to the players.”

Ceres is preparing for its AFC Cup match against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi of Bangladesh in the opponent’s turf on Saturday.

Kaya FC, another team preparing for an AFC Cup match on Tuesday against New Radiant, looks to lock in the No. 2 seed in Group A as it faces Forza in the nightcap at 8:30 p.m.
