Ceres-La Salle flaunts offensive might against Nomads to remain unbeaten in UFL Cup

    Feb 15, 2016

CERES-LA Salle flaunted its offensive might as it demolished Nomads, 15-0, to sustain its unbeaten start in the United Football League Cup on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Martin Steuble, who missed Ceres’ first match, registered a hat-trick in his return as well as Lee Jeong Woo, while Stephan Schrock, Bien Marañon, Adrian Gallardo added a brace each for the Busmen, who claimed the lead with six points in Group B ahead of Global FC on goal difference.

Patrick Reichelt, Nate Burkey and Carlie de Murga also struck one goal apiece for Ceres, which is preparing for the Asian Football Confederation Cup later this month.

“It’s a convincing win, but we’re still finding ways to improve the team,” Ceres coach Ali Go said. “We have some important games coming up especially with the AFC Cup so it’s crucial that the players get their confidence and get used to playing with each other.”

Ceres sealed the win in the first half with nine goals on the way to scoring its most lopsided victory since joining the league.

Stallion FC likewise hardly broke a sweat as it blanked Agila, 4-0, to regain the top spot in Group A, while Kaya FC walloped Laos FC, 6-1, to get its title-retention bid on the winning track after opening its campaign with a close loss to Ceres last week.

Global and JP Voltes, on the other hand, had to sweat it out in their respective matches on Saturday, scoring similar 2-1 wins over Green Archers United and Forza, respectively, to remain undefeated as well.

Loyola Meralco, though, had an easier time with 7-1 thumping of Pasargad to register in the win column in Group B.
