Lady Eagles, Lady Archers rekindle rivalry on the pitch in clash for solo UAAP lead

THE rivalry between Ateneo and La Salle continues on the pitch as the Lady Eagles and Lady Archers meet for the first time in the UAAP Season 79 women's football tournament on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Game time is at 5 p.m. just around the same time their women's volleyball counterparts square off at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Not only are the two teams fighting for pride, they're also slugging it out for the top spot in the tournament as they sit atop of the table with six points apiece.

The Lady Archers are coming off a stellar performance last week where three players notched a brace in their 6-2 drubbing against University of Santo Tomas.

Nicole Andaya, Khyren Dimaandal and Sarah Castaneda scored two goals apiece as La Salle finally lived up to its title contender billing in the preseason.

The Lady Eagles, on the other hand, expect Cam Rodriguez to deliver the goods after she notched a hat-trick in their 4-3 win over Far Eastern University two weeks ago.

Meantime, defending champion University of the Philippines guns to escape the cellar as it takes on University of Santo Tomas in the first game.

The Lady Maroons remain winless this season, with their last result a goal-less draw against FEU, continuing its string of uninspired performances.
