Filipina booters continue amazing run after booking finals seat in AFC U14 girls regional championship

THE Philippines beat Myanmar, 5-1, on Saturday to reach the finals of the AFC U-14 Girls' Regional Championship Asean zone in Vientiane, Laos.

Carleigh Frilles scored three goals in leading the Filipina booters to the final where they will take on Thailand Sunday afternoon.

Frilles connected in the 37th, 55th, and 67th minute to lift the Philippines to the victory after a tight first half.

Trinity Wambolt opened scoring for the Pinay booters in the 12th minute, but Myanmar quickly tied the count on a goal by Myat Noe Khin seven minutes later.

But Frilles came through eight minutes before halftime to give the Philippines the lead for good, 2-1, before she scored once again 10 minutes after halftime.

Maria Lazo made it 4-1 in the 58th and then Frilles completed the lopsided victory nine minutes later.

The Philippines faces a Thailand squad that beat Vietnam in the semifinals, 2-0, on goals by Pattaranan Aupacahi.

Thailand, which topped Group A, was held to a 2-2 draw by the Philippines in the preliminaries.
