FABIAN Delph made a sudden jump just a week after saying he was staying put, moving to Manchester City from Aston Villa.

The England midfielder transferred to City on Friday on a £8 million release fee ($12.4 million) just six months after signing an extension with Villa.

"Aston Villa can confirm that Fabian Delph has exercised the release clause in his contract and will join Manchester City," said Aston Villa in a statement.

"We'd like to wish him success in his future career."

The 25-year-old Delph agreed to a five-year contract with City.
