NEIL Etheridge and Birmingham City beat Preston North End, 2-1, for its second consecutive win in the English Football League Championship at the Deepdale Stadium in Preston, England.
Etheridge rescued the Blues with a save of a Tom Barkhuizen shot in the 88th. WATCH:
Etheridge’s late effort preserved the Blues’ lead after substitute Gary Gardner supplied the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute.
It was also the Blues’ first win in Preston since 2001. Birmingham City is now at 11th place with 13 points, eight behind league-leader Reading.
“I am really excited with the performance of the team. We can’t forget where we are coming from and let’s see where we arrive. But this is the way for sure,” said Blues manager Aitor Karanka.
Riley McGree scored the first goal in the in the second minute, but Preston North End equalized with a goal by Jayden Stockley in the 24th.
