    Kevin Hansen debuts as Azkals play without Neil Etheridge in Asian Cup

    NEIL Etheridge will not be suiting up for the Philippines in the AFC Asian Cup 2019.

    The Cardiff goalkeeper was noticeably missing from the Azkals 23-man lineup for the Asian Cup set January 5 to February 1 in United Arab Emirates.

    Kevin Hansen, who plays for Danish club AC Horsens, will be debuting as the team’s goalkeeper and will be joined by Michael Falkesgaard and Nathaniel Ace Villanueva.

    Phil Younghusband leads the 23-man line-up of the Azkals along with Stephan Schrock and Javier Patino, who will return to the team after missing the Suzuki Cup due to an injury.

    Other members of the Azkals squad for the Asian Cup are defenders Carlos de Murga, Stephan Palla, Daisuke Sato, Alvaro Silva, and Luke Woodland, midfielders Adam Tull, Kevin Ingreso, Paul Mulders, Manuel Ott, Mike Rigoberto Ott, John-Patrick Strauss, Miguel Javier Tanton, and James Younghusband, and forwards Jovin Bedic, Curt Dizon, Javier Patino, Iain Ramsay and Patrick Reichelt.

    The Azkals are bracketed in Group C and will play Korea on January 7, China on January 11 and Kyrgyzstan on January 16.
