MILO Philippines has partnered with FC Barcelona for the second straight year to make the dreams of aspiring footballers come true.
On Wednesday, Milo launched the second edition of Road to Barcelona, a three-day invitational camp for 160 boys and girls aged 10 to 12 that will be held at the Cebu City Sports Center from September 8 to 10.
Seven standouts from the camp along with five others from last year’s edition will fly to Barcelona for a football training camp under the world-renowned coaching staff of the fabled Spanish club.
Speaking on Wednesday during the event launch at Kidzania Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Nestle Philippines, Inc. vice-president Willy de Ocampo said he believes the Barcelona trip will be a life-changing experience for the kids.
“To get to that level of experience is something, that is not just physically, but it’s also in the heart that is really going to change their lives,” he said.
“What we are trying to do here is to fuel the (kids’) ambition, to know that they can reach for the stars and by bringing them to Barcelona, they will be able to reach for their dreams,” he added.
Last year’s participant Kevin Hadap shared the dream experience of meeting his idol Lionel Messi and learning tricks from Eric Abidal, a 2010 World Cup veteran for France.
“Nagpunta po kami sa camp, nakita po namin si Messi na naglalaro,” said the 10-year old striker. “Natutunan ko po na (trick) ‘yung mang-iwan ng bantay.”
