KAYA FC-Iloilo salvaged a 1-1 draw against PSM Makassar on Tuesday in the AFC Cup at the Pakansari Stadium in Indonesia.
Marwin Angeles scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute to claim a point in their away match and stay in first place in Group H with five points.
“It was a really tough game,” said Kaya FC-Iloilo coach Noel Marcaida. “PSM were really dangerous whenever they received the ball in front of our defensive line. It wasn’t our best performance, but it was our big heart that allowed us to get that late goal.
“All in all, we deserved to get that point. And with that away goal, it gives us a boost ahead of our game in Bacolod. I’m proud of my boys,” said Noel Marcaida.
Eero Markkanen opened scoring in the 56th minute but was unable to close out the match to settle for second place in Group H with five points after matchday three.
Action resumes on Wednesday in the AFC Cup with Ceres Negros FC battling Persija Jakarta at 7:30 p.m. at the Pana-ad Stadium in Bacolod City.
