MANCHESTER United is set to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger for about US$217,000 per week.
The move will reunite the veteran midfielder with Louis van Gaal, the Manchester United manager who handled Bayern from 2009 to 2011.
Schweinsteiger, part of the 2014 World Cup champion German squad, has been offered a three-year contract, The Guardian reported on Friday.
It is the third major offseason move for Manchester United, which earlier acquired Netherlands forward Memphis Depay and Italy defender Matteo Darmian.
