SINGAPORE – Bayern Munich found out it has enough firepower heading into its domestic campaign – and the resilience to erase a deficit – as it rallied past Liverpool, 4-3, in their friendly on Wednesday night at the National Stadium.

Frans Kratzig completed the comeback as the second-half substitute broke the final deadlock with a long-range missile at the start of added time for the Bavarians, who open their Bundesliga title defense on August 19 against Werder.

Liverpool caught Bayern Munich on an early defensive breakdown as Cody Gakpo saw himself in a relatively clear path on the left side that drew goalkeeper Yann Sommer out of the box, leading to a left-footed strike less than three minutes into the match.

It would open the floodgates to a high-scoring Allianz-backed exhibition that 49,983 people in attendance enjoyed.

A day after being named as the club’s new captain after the exit of Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk was in the right place, at the right time as he headed home an Andrew Robertson cross to double the lead in the 28th minute.

Five minutes later, however, Bayern Munich finally found an offensive punch to make up for the absence of injured star Thomas Muller as Serge Gnarby found space on the left side of the box and struck a low shot past ‘keeper Alisson Becker to trim the deficit.

The Bavarians continued to find a defensive hole in the similar area on the left side as Leroy Sane took his turn to find the back of the net to tie the count just minutes before halftime.
