KAYA FC Makati claimed its first victory in the Philippines Football League as it downed the Davao Aguilas FC, 2-0, on Saturday in the University of Makati field.
In a battle of two 10-men teams, it was the Makati side who emerged victorious as first half goals from Jordan Mintah and Adam Reed proved to be the difference in the fixture.
Mintah opened the scoring from up close in the 16th minute to give the home side an early advantage.
As if things couldn't get worse for the visiting side, Jason Cordova gave away a penalty in the 42nd minute and got sent off in the process after a harsh tackle inside the box.
Reed then stepped up to the spot to double the lead before halftime.
That was one of the last things that Reed did as he also got sent off, seven minutes after the interval following a rash challenge.
But despite also going down to 10 men, Kaya was able to hold the fort to get all three points in their second home stand for the season.
The win pushed Kaya on the higher echelon of the table with four points in just two games.
The Aguilas on the other hand, remained at the lower half of the table with a solitary point in three outings.
