KAYA FC-Iloilo lost to Cong An Hanoi, 2-1, to stay winless in the 2024-25 ASEAN Shopee Cup on Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

A second-half goal by Mark Swainston in the 54th minute couldn’t rescue the Philippine side from losing its first home match of the tournament after it conceded an own goal by Marco Casambre in the 28th minute.

Le Van Do’s curling shot from the left flank started scoring for the Vietnam club in the 16th, before it gained a 2-0 lead on that Casambre own goal.

Kaya FC-Iloilo suffered its third straight defeat in the ASEAN Club Championship at the expense of Cong An Hanoi, which is on top of Group B by coming away with its third win.

Prior to the match, Kaya FC-Iloilo paid tribute to its former player and Bacolod-based coach Janrick Soriano, who passed away aged 36 due an illness recently.
