KAYA FC and Ceres-La Salle posted contrasting victories against Singaporean opponents on Tuesday night to keep the Philippine flag flying high in the Asian Football Confederation Cup.

Kaya blanked Balestier Khalsa, 3-0, in the opponent’s turf in Singapore, before the Busmen held off Tampines Rovers, 2-1, at rain-soaked Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

Kaya went ahead by two goals 25 minutes into the match that set the tone for the rout and their third straight win that enabled the United Football League heavyweight to keep a firm grip on the top spot in Group in F with nine points.

Ceres also built an early two-goal lead off penalties, before weathering a late storm by Tampines to score the breakthrough home win in the AFC Cup and also allowed the host side to claim the lead in Group E with eight points.

Alfred Osei and Kenshiro Daniels struck in the first half, before Louis Clark added a goal in the second half for Kaya, which atoned for an 8-7 loss to Ceres in penalty shootout in the UFL Cup semifinal last week.

Spanish strikers Bien Marañon and Adrian Gallardo converted on their spot kicks for Ceres.
