Kaya FC bows to defending champion JDT to kiss AFC Cup campaign goodbye

    May 26, 2016

KAYA FC bowed to Johor Darul Ta’zim, 7-2, on Wednesday night at the opponent’s turf in Malaysia to kiss its Asian Football Confederation campaign goodbye.

The Philippine representative hardly recovered after surrendering four goals against the defending AFC Cup champion in the first half of their Round of 16 match to fail to advance to the quarterfinals.

That ended the Philippine campaign in the second-tier club competition in the continent after Ceres-La Salle lost to South China in Bacolod on Tuesday night.

Argentine striker Juan Lucero fired a hat-trick to lead the scoring party for the hosts.

OJ Porteria and Antonio Ugarte struck in the second half to pull two goals back for Kaya, whose comeback proved too little too late.
