JOHN Anthony Gutierrez was elected as the new Philippine Football Federation president on Saturday at The Bellevue Manila in Muntinlupa City.
The Bukidnon Football Association general secretary succeeded Mariano ‘Nonong’ Araneta, whose two-term limit expired this year. Gutierrez got 30 out of the 36 voting members from 33 regional football associations and three clubs during the PFF Extraordinary Congress.
Gutierrez, who also previously owned the Pachanga United club that competed in the defunct United Football League, will be the PFF president until 2027.
Also elected to the PFF Executive Committee that will also have their term until 2027 are Lawrence Lemuel Fortun (first vice president), Jay Adriatico (second vice president), and Isabella Fernando (female member).
Other members elected are Rufino Arellano, Virgilio Imperial, Lovely Gladys Mae Tababa, and Alvin Yalung for Luzon; Elmer Gallardo, Rodney Orale, Renee Songalia, and Roceller Sumbillo for Visayas; and Irvin Banga, Gemayel Gampong, Stephen Gorgonio, and Damsel Merced for Mindanao.
