Joel Embiid scored 24 points on 6 of 12 shooting as Philadelphia notched their 12th win in 35 outings.
Dario Saric came up with 15 points off the bench, while Ersan Ilyasova scored 12.
Covington wound up with 11 points, which was matched by Sergio Rodriguez.
The Hornets absorbed their fourth straight loss.
Nicolas Batum scored 19 on 7 of 14 shooting, while Kemba Walker had 17 points, making seven of 23 field goal attempts.
Cody Zeller had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for Charlotte, which has lost 20 of 40 games.
