IAN Clarino broke the deadlock just after the interval as University of the Philippines got back on track with a 2-1 win over Adamson in the UAAP Men's football tournament on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The UP center-back struck in the 56th minute as he swooped into the box to score the eventual winner for the defending champions, who had lost back-to-back matches to Ateneo and Far Eastern University.
Kyle Magdato scored the opener for UP in the 43rd minute but the defending champions were once again dragged into another tight battle as Bryan Jumo II took the goal back just four minutes later.
Thankfully for the Maroons, Clarino was in the right place at the right time, enabling UP to stay at the upper echelon of the standings after the first round with 13 points.
The loss kept the Falcons at the cellar with just a single win after six games.
