AFTER his sisters’ stint in the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Griffin McDaniel will next suit up for the Philippines in the AFF U23 Championship set from February 14 to 26 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
McDaniel is part of the 26-man roster of the Philippines for the competition, getting the call-up shortly after his siblings Olivia and Chandler played a big role in the women’s team’s run to the semifinals of the Asian Cup which led to a place in the Fifa Women’s World Cup next year.
Prior to the call-up, the striker played club football for Stallion, playing all three matches during the Copa Paulino Alcantara. He also saw action in the Southeast Asian Games.
Oliver Bias, Quincy Kammeraad, Oskari Kekkonen, Dennis Chung, and Sandro Reyes are the holdovers from the squad that saw action in the AFC U23 Championship qualifiers last October and the AFF Suzuki Cup last December.
Stewart Hall will coach the team after his stint with the senior national team in the Suzuki Cup.
Also making the team are goalkeepers Enrico Mangaoang and Jessie Semblante, and defenders Gyles Lucas Encabo, Pete Andrei Forrosuelo, Jayvee Kallukaran, Elijah Jacob Lao, Miguel Mendoza, Jaime Rosquillo, and David Setters, midfielders Pocholo Bugas, Kieran Hayes, Jacob Francis Maniti, Matt Lancelot Ocampo, Antoine Ortega, Jacob Agustin Pena, Nathan Rilloraza, Mariano Suba, and Scott Philip Woods.
Strikers Andres Aldeguer and Ivan Ouano complete the team.
