GLOBAL FC has moved to a different direction as it signed Scottish Leigh Manson as its new head coach starting in the United Football League that kicked off on Saturday.
Manson, whose appointment was announced in Global's website on Saturday, takes over from compatriot Brian Reid, who led the powerhouse squad to bridesmaid finishes in major tournaments in his first and only year.
"The past year has been an eye-opener for the club," Global boss Dan Palami said. "That has become a motivation for us to do better."
So the businessman and chief football advocate decided to entrust the reins to Manson, who has a UEFA B coaching license and two decades of mentoring experience.
"I'm very excited by the opportunity to put my ideas on the pitch," Manson said. "I know long enough Dan's vision of how he wants Global to play."
Manson, one of the assistant coaches of the 23-under Azkals last year, makes his debut in Global's opening game in the League on Tuesday against Loyola Meralco.
