GLOBAL FC and Stallion FC scored emphatic victories against separate provincial rivals on Tuesday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to formalize their entry in the semifinals of the Philippine Football Federation-Smart Club Championship.
Both teams could even afford to lose by small margins on the final day of the group stage, but Global whipped Erco-Bro FC 9-0, and the Stallions walloped M’lang FC, 10-1, to complete the Final Four cast.
Global emerged on top of Group B with seven points and a goal difference of +19 as the powerhouse club arranged a semifinal meeting with defending champion and Group A second placer Ceres-La Salle in a rematch of the last two Finals editions.
The Stallions, who finished with seven points but with a +13 GD, will face Group A top seed Loyola Meralco in the other Last Four pairing on Thursday.
Izo El-Habib starred for Global as the Sudanese striker fired a whopping five goals, including a hat-trick within the first 18 minutes of the match.
Azkals standouts Misagh Bahadoran and Mark Hartmann, and Yu Hoshide, and John Kanayama chipped in one apiece against the representative from Cebu.
