GLOBAL FC seeks to resuscitate its flat-lining campaign in the Asian Football Confederation Cup as it hosts Yadanarbon in the first international match at the Philippine Stadium in Bocaue, Bulacan on Wednesday night.

The defending United Football League champions try to barge into the win column and move out of the cellar of the four-team Group G as they hope to draw inspiration from the home crowd in the world-class 20,000-seat venue.

“This is the best stadium ever in the Philippines,” star midfielder Misagh Bahadoran said before training on the eve of the 8 p.m. encounter. “It’s such an honor that we’re going to be the first team to play here … This is a big motivation.”

The visitors from Myanmar are running third in the group, where only the top two teams advance to the Round of 16 of the second-tier club tournament in the continent.

“This is a team we’ve got a chance to take three points off,” Global coach Leigh Manson said ahead of the start of the second round of eliminations. “Their players are confident, training has been very good.”

Global held the Burmese scoreless in the first half before surrendering a 2-0 decision in their first meeting at the opponent’s turf last month.

“We’ve created good chances, but we haven’t taken those chances,” Manson said. “So we worked very hard in training on converting our chances.”

It was evident in Global’s last game in the UFL on Saturday when the powerhouse side ran riot in a 10-1 trampling of Manila Jeepney behind a hat-trick by Mark Hartmann and a brace each by Hikaru Minegishi and Bahadoran.
