GLOBAL Cebu FC scored successive goals in the second half to score a 2-1 come-from-behind win over JPV Marikina FC in the 2017 Philippine Football League (PFL) on Saturday at the Binan Football Stadium.
Goals from Amani Aguinaldo and Paul Mulders salvaged the match for the Cebuano side, which was four days removed from qualifying into the zonal semifinals of the AFC Cup.
"That goal is just a bonus for me," said Aguinaldo.
The goals came in a flash for both teams in an action packed six-minute sequence after the interval. Odwara Takashi opened the scoring for the hosts in the 56th minute but that was soon taken back by Aguinaldo two minutes later.
Just like in their match against Boeungket Ankor, Mulders found himself in the scoresheet, this time from a penalty.
Mulders calmly sank the goal from the spot in the 61st minute to put Global ahead for good.
'It was a good win, but we still have a long way to go. We still have games to be played, we have to keep our focus and fitness," Aguinaldo continued.
"We didn't really play so well, but the important thing is we came out with the win. I'm happy with that."
With the win, Global joined FC Meralco Manila as the only team to get all three points after the opening weekend.
