GLOBAL Cebu continued its slump in the 2018 AFC Cup group stages after Yangon United came away with a dominant 3-0 win on Wednesday evening at the Thuwanna Youth Training Center in Myanmar.
Ex-Global forward Sekou Sylla netted twice in the second half for Yangon to cap what was an impressive performance from the home side.
Lwin Maung Maung opened the scoring for Yangon as he curled in a free kick just a few moments before halftime.
It was an unfortunate incident for the visiting side from Cebu as they nearly scored early following close attempts from Dom Del Rosario and Darryl Roberts.
After the interval, it was Sylla's turn to deal the damage as he scored off a header from Lwin's cross in the 48th minute before going solo nine minutes later to notch his brace.
The win allowed Yangon to rule Group G with seven points as Global continued to spiral at the bottom with just a solitary point to show after three games.
The two squads will meet again next Tuesday at the home leg for Global at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
