NEWCOMER General Trias continued to make a great impression in the United Football League Cup, blanking Socceroo, 2-0, on Thursday night at the University of Makati pitch.
With the win, the Cavite-based club made up entirely of Koreans moved closer to clinching the first quarterfinal berth in Group A with seven points, ahead of tournament favorite Global.
The debuting Socceroo did a decent job protecting the goal in the first half. But after the Korean-laden club converted two early second-half goals, Socceroo decided to change its 'keeper.
The ploy seemed to work as the club didn’t allow its opponents to score anew.
But while their defense improved, their offense remained the same as they ended up without a point, dropping its first game of the tournament.
