NINE Filipinas are set to participate in the Street Child World Cup kicking off next week in Moscow.
Althea, 14, of Payatas FC, and Ana of Dream Big Pilipinas, also 14, head the team that will join 11 other nations in the event being held ahead of the Fifa World Cup.
Annabel, 15, of Project Firstgoal in Kalibo is also in the team along with 16-year-old Angela of SOS Children’s Village-Davao.
Regine and Rose Ann, both 16 from Payatas FC, 17-year-old Cebuanas Margie and Trisha, and Benguet’s Hendra, also 17, complete the team.
A team from the Philippines also saw action in the 2014 Street Child World Cup in Brazil and in 2010 in Durban.
Team Philippines’ motto for 2018 is ‘When we show we care, everybody wins.’
Before leaving for Russia, Team Philippines will play an exhibition match against the University of the Philippines women’s football team on May 6 at Sparta in Mandaluyong.
