THE Philippine women’s football team was blanked by Scotland, 2-0, on Saturday in the 2024 Pinatar Cup in Murcia, Spain.
Martha Thomas scored goals in the 22nd and 36th to reach the final of the four-nation invitational while sending the Filipinas in the third-place match.

PWNT will face Slovenia, which lost to Finland in the other match.
The Filipinas are playing in their first Fifa window of 2024 following a year that saw the team compete in the Fifa Women’s World Cup 2023.
Before the Pinatar Cup, the Philippines lost to Finland, 4-0, in a friendly, also in Murcia.
The Filipinas conceded three goals in the first half against the world No. 27 in their first match before they compete in the four-nation Pinatar Cup.
Sarina Bolden, who recently scored a hat trick for his club team Newcastle Jets in the A-League Women, entered the match in the second half but the Filipinas were still held scoreless in the match.
Katariina Kosola scored the first goal of the match in the 24th minute, with Eva Nystrom padding the lead four minutes later.
Oona Sevenius made it 3-0 in the 42nd on a header from an Olga Ahtinen corner.
Vilma Koivisto scored the final goal of the match in the 72nd minute on a rebound.
