THE PHILIPPINES absorbed a 3-0 whipping from Korea Republic in an international friendly held in Icheon City, Korea.
The Filipinas couldn’t hold on after keeping the Taegeuk Ladies scoreless for majority of the match.
Choe Yu Ri broke the ice for Korea in the 73rd minute when she took a way a back pass by Jessica Cowart to score.
The first goal of the match came three minutes after Sarina Bolden gave the Philippines its best scoring chance when her shot from outside the box didn't have enough muscle and was just wide right.
Korea doubled the lead six minutes later courtesy of a Ji So Yun free kick from the left flank, and it capped the match with a goal by Jang Sel Gi in the 88th against ‘keeper Olivia McDaniel.
The match also saw 15-year-old Nina Mathelus making her international seniors debut when she came in as a substitute in the second half.
The two teams clash again on Monday at the same venue.
