THE Philippine women's football team will wrap up a memorable 2022 with two friendly matches against Papua New Guinea on December 11 and 15 in Sydney.

A total of 23 players have been called up for training camp in preparation for the friendlies against Papua New Guinea, which is ranked No. 50 in the world or three places higher than the Filipinas.

The friendlies form part of their preparation for next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup, which they were able to crash through the AFC Women’s Asian Cup earlier this year.

The Filipinas also ruled the 2022 AFF Women’s Championship.

“The PFF wants to make sure that the team continues its improvement and the best way to do that is through camps and friendly matches,” said Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta.

The Filipinas were coming off a training camp in South America where they drew, 1-1, and lost, 0-1, to Chile in Vina del Mar and Santiago, respectively.

“I think we had a great year and we hope to end it with great results at our upcoming friendlies. And I expect even more commitment, more passion and more hard work from the entire team as we enter the Women’s World Cup year,” said PWNT team manager Jeff Cheng.
