LOCAL football still found a way to make the limelight amidst the ongoing World Cup fever.

The Philippines continued its Cinderella run in the Asian Football Confederation Girls U-14 Championship for Southeast Asia as it stunned Myanmar, 2-1, on Saturday at the Thong Nat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City to reach the final of the regional tournament.

After finishing on top of their group following a 1-0 upset of host Vietnam and blowout wins against Cambodia and Singapore, the Filipina booters mirrored the Azkals’ resilience as they came back from an early deficit to pull off the semifinal victory.

The Let Dimzon-coached squad thus advanced to the championship match on Sunday where the national team takes on the winner of the other Final Four pairing between Thailand and Vietnam.
