THE Philippines defeated Maldives, 2-0, in the penultimate match of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers at the National Football Stadium in Male, Maldives on Tuesday.
Jefferson Tabinas and Sandro Reyes scored the goals in the 24th and 37th minute for the PMNT to move to 13 points with a 4-1-0 win-draw-loss record.

Tajikistan beat Timor-Leste, 5-0, in Darwin, Australia to also climb to 13 points on a 4-1-0 win-draw-loss record, setting the stage for the do-or-die clash against the Filipinos on March 31.
The winner of the match between Tajikistan and Philippines will clinch a spot in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 to be played in Saudi Arabia.
Tajikistan currently has the advantage due to superior goal difference at +11, with the Philippines at +10.
