CARLI De Murga and Manny Ott have joined the Philippine Azkals just days to go before their match against China in the 2022 Fifa World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
De Murga announced on Twitter he is suiting up for the national squad after he initially begged off due to issues in obtaining his Chinese visa. The qualification matches have since been moved to United Arab Emirates, allowing the defender to join the squad.
Ott’s club team Melaka United also confirmed the call-up, and is set to join his brother Mike with the Azkals.
The Azkals now have 22 players for their crucial tiff against China on Monday night (Tuesday early morning Manila time).
The Philippines is in third place in Group A with seven points, three behind China, which won over Guam, 7-0, last week during the resumption of the qualifiers.
Syria leads Group A with 18 points after blanking Maldives, 4-0, for its sixth victory.
