The 32-year-old Younghusband made the announcement on his Instagram account.

“Hanging up my boots! Thank you to my bosses, my coaches, team mates, competitors and all the supporters who have been part of my journey. See you all soon in a new adventure,” wrote Younghusband.

Younghusband is considered as one of the players responsible for the renaissance of football in the Philippines.

Playing under the Chelsea football system during his youth days, Younghusband was recruited to play for the Philippine national team after being discovered by a gamer that he has Filipino roots.

Younghusband along with his brother James began playing for the Philippine national team in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games before making his way to the senior national team.
