THE Philippine Football Federation has started its talent identification tryouts for the U-17 women’s national team.
The tryouts for players born from 2009 to 2012 are currently ongoing in the Philippines, with field training every Monday (8 to 10 p.m.), Wednesday (6 to 8 p.m.), and Saturday (2 to 4 p.m.) at Circuit Makati, and strength and conditioning every Tuesday and Thursday (6 to 8 p.m.) at Paseo de Magallanes also in Makati.
Tryouts in the U.S. will also be held from January 30 to February 3 at the Great Park Sports Complex in Irvine, California in Greater Los Angeles for American-based Filipinos.

The PFF is out to form a pool that is being described as ‘The Next Gold Generation,’ following the Filipinas’ successful campaign in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games where they captured their first gold medal in the competition.

Among the players from that history-making national team who came from the U17 squad are Alexa Pino, Ariana Markey, and Jael Guy.
“This is about building continuity and creating a real bridge from youth football to the senior national team,” said team manager Jose Luis ‘Selu’ Lozano. “We are identifying players early, developing them properly, and giving them access to the same standards of coaching, preparation, and support found in top international environments. This is how you sustain success.”
“Filipina players are developing in different environments around the world. Our responsibility is to bring them into one clear system, one pathway, and one national identity,” he said.
Overseas-based players can contact U.S. talent scout coordinator Jay Pascual at fapiv@yahoo.com and/or 949-981-9067. Philippine-based players can reach out to Lozano at +63918-888-7358
“The U17 women's initiative represents a deliberate move toward a sustainable, homegrown national development structure, ensuring that future generations of Filipina footballers are prepared to transition seamlessly from youth levels to the senior national team,” said PFF president John Gutierrez.
