HAS Freddy Gonzalez stepped down as director of national teams of the Philippine Football Federation?
Fans online have been expressing their displeasure over multiple reports of another high-profile official of the PFF stepping down from a top position in the national federation.
Manila Standard columnist Erel Cabatbat tweeted about a "popular official" who he said has resigned from this post following an incident during a recent game.
Gonzalez at centre of online furor
Several fans have been speculating that Gonzalez is the official being mentioned in the reports for the fact that the Philippine men's football team had a recent game against Tajikistan at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
The PFF has not released an official statement on the online reports.
"Huge, huge blow to Philippine football," wrote football broadcaster Cedelf Tupas on Twitter about the reported resignation.

Gonzalez, a former national player, is considered as the person behind the Philippine men's football team's marked improvement over the last few months.
In December, the Philippines defeated Southeast Asian giant Thailand and advanced to the semifinals of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup.
PMNT has also put together a solid squad that is currently at first place in Group A of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
During this period, the Philippines has also signed Albert Capellas as head coach, but he shockingly stepped down from his post after just eight months before the match against Tajikistan.
An official that is also part of the organizing committee for the country's hosting of the FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup has also stepped down recently.
