AUCKLAND, New Zealand – The Philippines’ chances of making it to the next round of the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup suffered a major blow, as the Filipinas trailed 3-0 against Norway at the end of the first half in their fixture at Eden Park.
Sophie Roman Haug scored a brace while Caroline Graham Hansen showed her quality with a long-range goal as the world's No. 12 ranked team struck with a vengeance after a loss to New Zealand and a scoreless draw against Switzerland.

Norway’s strategy coming into the match was to score a lot of goals in order to make it through to the round-of-16.
It sure did.
Roman Haug made the first goal for Norway in the sixth minute on a volley and struck again on a header from almost exactly the same spot in the 17th to immediately put the world No. 46-ranked Filipinas on the back foot.
Graham Hansen, benched in the first half during their previous match against Switzerland, scored in the 31st minute with an incredible strike from long distance for the commanding halftime lead.
The Filipinas need a win against the Norwegians to advance to the knockout stage and continue their Cinderella run in the tournament.
