THE Philippines will be facing an inspired New Zealand squad in the Fifa Women’s World Cup on July 25.
This after World Cup co-hosts defeated Norway, 1-0, on Thursday for their first-ever win in the global showcase witnessed by more than 42,000 people at Eden Park.

Hannah Wilkinson scored the lone goal of the match in the 48th minute in a historic moment in New Zealand women’s football in Auckland, their first win coming in their 16th World Cup match in 32 years at the expense of the world No. 12.
The Football Ferns will now head to Wellington for their July 25 match against the Filipinas where a place in the knockout stage could be at stake.
The Filipinas will open their Fifa Women’s World Cup campaign on Friday against Switzerland in Dunedin.
