    Jun 25, 2020

JAMES Younghusband has called it a career, announcing his retirement from football on Thursday.

Younghusband made the retirement official on his Instagram account, seven months after his younger brother Phil also decided to end his career.

“Time to say goodbye,” wrote the 33-year-old Younghusband. “Thank you for the amazing memories. I have loved playing this game. Thank you to my family, bosses, managers, coaches, team mates, opponents and all my supporters who have been part of my professional career.”

The retirement ended a 14-year career in the Philippines that began when he along with his brother joined the U-23 national team for the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.

Just like his brother, James was also part of the Azkals and the renaissance of Philippine football during the famous 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup campaign of the senior national squad.

A member of the Chelsea youth program, Younghusband also played for Loyola Meralco Sparks, Davao Aguilas, and Ceres Negros FC.
