THE Philippine men’s and women’s football team got a major boost with GoTyme Bank coming in as a sponsor this year.
Philippine Football Federation director of national teams Freddy Gonzalez revealed that the Gokongwei-owned digital bank has come in to support that comes with the staging of a tri-national competition.

The GoTyme Cup to be held in September that will feature the Philippine men’s team battling two more countries at home this year.
Gonzalez said the plan is to make it an annual competition with the women’s team also going to see action in the invitational.
“GoTyme Bank is a sponsor of the national teams now,” said Gonzalez. “There’s going to be an announcement about that soon. But one of the things that we have with them is the GoTyme Cup.”
“First for men, then we’ll also do one for women. But since the women’s, there’s no space in the window right now. It’s going to be the men’s in September because there’s no qualifying games [AFC Asian Cup] in September,” said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez said there is already one squad that has confirmed its participation for the GoTyme Cup.
“I can’t confirm two of the teams yet because we’re still getting them. But I can confirm that it’s basically Philippines. South Africa will be one of them as well,” said Gonzalez.
The men’s team is coming off a semifinal finish in the 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup where it won over Thailand in one of the legs. PMNT is also set to see action in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers starting in March.
With the Asian Cup qualifies not holding games in September, the PFF decided to hold the GoTyme Cup in September.
