APART from putting the country on the radar of the biggest stage in football, the feat of the Philippine Women’s National Football Team gives some boost for the Azkals.
Men’s national team head coach Michael Weiss was among the crowd that cheered as Sarina Bolden scored the Filipinas’ first goal in its win versus home bets New Zealand on Tuesday.

"I’m very happy to be part of this. People are overjoyed and I have no words. It’s just fantastic,” he told SPIN.ph during the adidas viewing party in Studio 300, Makati.
“I can only hope. I hope it gives us a backwind to do more. We have the capacity. We are very happy for the win, and we can do the same,” he said.

“We just need support. We have the diamonds in our hands, we can put up a similar thing. But really, we’re just very happy for the girls,” Weiss added.
Azkals veteran Stephan Shrock was also grateful to have seen the historic victory.
“It’s unbelievable. I had goosebumps, and I was sweating as they played. We cannot imagine how big this win is, and hopefully, it would have a huge impact on the future of the sport,” Shrock added.
