CHANDLER McDaniel couldn’t help but rave over the support the Philippine women’s national football team received during their maiden run in the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
During their homecoming in Manila on Wednesday, McDaniel gushed about the Filipinos’ support, especially in their final group stage match against Norway last weekend.

“It was actually crazy,” McDaniel said.
“We walked out for our last game and like, me and Meryll [Serrano] we’re like there’s no Norwegians here like the whole stands were just red, white, and blue.”
More than 30,000 fans watched the match between the Filipinas and Norway at Eden Park, with a good number of Filipinos in the stands.

Even though the Filipinas’ bid in the World Cup ended that day with a humbling 6-0 loss, there wasn’t any pride lost from the Filipinas forward.
“It was honestly insane to be able to hear everyone in the audience sing the national anthem really brought so much happiness to my heart,” said McDaniel.
“I hope I get to do it again,” she added.
The California native hopes to connect even more with her roots and celebrate their success.
“I’m so happy to be back. I was actually here a couple of months ago but I’m just very happy to be back, [I’m] so excited to see everyone and I just love being home.”
