FEU booters test mettle of defending champ UP, aim to keep pace with UAAP leader Ateneo

    Mar 1, 2017

FAR Eastern University and University of the Philippines look to create separation from the rest of the pack as the two squads battle in the UAAP Season 79 men's football tournament onThursday at the Moro Lorenzo field.

Sitting at second and third place respectively, the Tamaraws and the Fighting Maroons are looking to catch up with the league leading Blue Eagles who comfortably sit atop the table with 18 points.

Game time is at 6 p.m.

The Tamaraws have won all of their four games owing to their rock solid defense, as they have yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

With Rico Andes and Paolo Bugas pulling the strings from the midfield, the Tamaraws are as dangerous on the attacking end as well.

The Maroons, on the other hand, are eager to bounce back after they dropped a 1-0 defeat to Ateneo over the weekend.

It was an unfortunate result for the defending champions as they dominated much of the match before succumbing to a Mario Ceniza goal late in the game.

Meanwhile, National University look to ride on the momentum of its first win as it tackles struggling La Salle in the first game of the triple header.

The Bulldogs finally got its first win last Sunday after dropping the Adamson Falcons, 2-1, last Sunday.

The Green Archers had to rely on a late Jose Montelibano goal to salvage a point against University of Santo Tomas.

Completing the triple header is the battle between Adamson and University of the East at 4 p.m. in a match between two squads raring to finally move out of the cellar.
