LONDON — The English Football Association has banned Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini and Leicester defender Robert Huth for three matches following their clash during a Premier League game.
Fellaini reacted to getting his hair pulled by Huth by appearing to elbow his opponent as they jostled during a set-piece in Sunday's (Monday, Manila time) 1-1 draw. The incident wasn't seen by the match officials but was caught on video.
The FA says both players accepted charges of violent conduct. Huth appealed against the severity of the ban, saying a three-match suspension would be "clearly excessive," but it was rejected at an independent hearing.
The sanctions rule both players out for the rest of the Premier League season.
