FOR the second straight year, the Clear Dream Match has been hit by heavy rains that affected play and affected the turnout at the University of Makati pitch on Saturday night.

Clear brand manager Drew Copuyoc acknowledged that it would be a nice idea to hold the next edition of the charity all-star game not during the rainy season but during summer.

“That’s a really good suggestion. And actually we’ve been thinking about it,” Copuyoc said.

Under the heavy downpour, Team James evened the score with Team Phil after cruising to a 4-1 victory on UMak’s natural pitch which had patches of water that clearly affected play.

According to weather reports, Typhoon “Maring” already left the Philippine area of responsibility by the time the match was held, but heavy rains persisted on game day.

“Maring” victims were one of the two beneficiaries of the match proceeds, the other being the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation.

“Next year, we’ll try to make it earlier if ever we’ll push through with it, ideally during the summer season,” Copuyoc said.

“I can’t promise anything, but we’ll see,” Copuyoc added. “The score is one-one so it’ll be great to have a tiebreaker to know who really the clear champion is.”
