THE Davao Aguilas and Ilocos United, miles from each other geographically, just can’t seem to separate themselves from each other.
The newcomers once again settled for another draw in the Philippines Football League, this time with the match ending up goalless on Sunday at the Davao Del Norte Stadium in Tagum City.
Facing each other for the second time in the tournament, the match was pretty much reminiscent of their 1-1 draw in Bantay, Ilocos on the opener of the league.
Buoyed by another rocking crowd in Davao, the Aguilas started hot with Omar Khan creating problems for the Ilocos defense out wide.
The visitors managed to find their footing midway through the match.
Angelo Marasigan had some fine shots, even forcing Marko Trkulja to make some stretch saves.
Davao managed to get the lion’s share of possession but their chances were few, the closest coming from a Nate Burkey free kick in the 72nd minute. The veteran midfielder whipped a low ball past the wall before Baba Sampana made the last second save.
Davao snagged its fourth point after seven games. Ilocos on the other hand ended its five game losing run to claim its second point, also in seven games.
